YOUR GUIDE TO WEDDING SKIN PREPARATION

Getting married is a stressful life event, which requires a lot of preparation and planning, and striving to be poised and elegant can add extra pressure. To ensure your skin radiates with a healthy glow on your wedding day, and to alleviate some of the pre-wedding jitters, we recommend beginning your pre-wedding essentials up to six months before the big day. This, of course, is not only for you but also for your entire wedding party.

If the spa you frequent has multiple aestheticians and nail technicians, you may wish to make an afternoon or evening of it and have your wedding party join in on the fun and book in with you to prepare for the big day. If your spa is more intimate, you and your party may prefer to enjoy the serenity of individual appointments. Whatever the case, the preparation needs to begin early.

Six months prior

Schedule a consultation to discuss the vision you have of yourself on your wedding day. There are many things to consider when aiming to be your best self, including any changes you might wish to make to the following:

  • eyebrow shape;
  • nail length, shape and condition of the hands and feet (especially if you are going for a tropical honeymoon);
  • eyelash length and condition;
  • hair removal(waxing or laser hair removal);
  • makeup (if applicable);
  • and, most importantly, your skin’s texture and appearance.

So, let’s discuss our expertise and what we can do for you and your wedding party to put their best face forward.

Chemical Peels

Depending on your age, skin type and conditions, there is a chemical peel to suit your skin’s needs. A series of exfoliating treatments not only eliminates the buildup of dead cells, but it can also minimize the appearance of acne and acne scarring, reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, minimize visible pores, and leave the skin looking healthy and glowing. By reducing dead cells, subsequently applied targeted treatments will penetrate efficiently and provide elevated results.

Following a daily skincare regimen complete with homecare products is a must. This regimen should consist of three steps: cleanse, treat and protect, along with a weekly exfoliant and mask.

Retinols may also be prescribed depending on the skin condition. It is not recommended to use retinols and chemical peels together. However, a nightly retinol product could be used 2-4 weeks, after a series of peels, if the skin has more severe conditions that require attention. Scarring, deep lines and wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation can benefit from the use of retinols. G.M. COLLIN has retinol products containing 0.1%, 0.5% or 1.0% retinol to allow people of various skin types to introduce this most desired ingredient into their homecare routine.

Your aesthetician will continue to monitor your results and may suggest a chemical peel treatment to remove any dead cells and allow your skin to glow. Doing one peel a month prior ensures there will be no skin peeling on the big day. Vital C15 Serum may also be recommended to brighten the skin, minimize fine lines, wrinkles, and minimize slight skin discolouration.
